Job Title: Class 1 Yard Shunter

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class 1 Yard Shunter to join our team at Gregory Distribution. As a Class 1 Yard Shunter, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within our yard, ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shunting and loading/unloading of trailers, ensuring load security and adhering to site safety policies.
  • Moving trailers to be parked in allocated areas ready for delivery.
  • Using a Counterbalance Forklift to load and unload vehicles as required.
  • Liaising with the Transport Office as to what vehicles are parked in the yard.
  • Carrying out local collections and deliveries as and when required.
  • Logging of trailers in and out of the depot.
  • Attending regular training sessions.
Requirements:
  • Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
  • Hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
  • Previous experience of shunting is advantageous.
  • Counterbalance licence is preferable, but not essential as full training can be given.
  • Be passionate about providing excellent customer service.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Confident, polite and a team player.
  • Good geographical knowledge.
  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be fit, flexible, hardworking and self-motivated.
Benefits:
  • Basic salary for Class 1 Shunter is £33,745pa, based on working 48 hours per week.
  • Rest day working paid.
  • £70 every 5 years for HGV Medical.
  • Attendance for CPC paid.
  • Hours of work are Monday – Friday, starting circa 07:00hrs.
