Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to join our client, a well-established business operating in the legal and financial services sector. As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a crucial role in driving the financial and operational success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Firm Managing Partner in achieving the company's financial and operational objectives.
  • Develop and implement daily cash flow forecasts and rolling monthly/annual models to ensure optimal liquidity and financial stability.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of finance staff, including a Legal Cashier and Accounts Assistant, to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis to identify and rectify key financial discrepancies during month-end closings.
  • Utilize Xero for reporting, including Xero Payroll, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate production and filing of all statutory reports, including statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, and other required statutory returns.
  • Automate the supplier and payroll payment process using bulk upload templates to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Lead the annual audit process with external auditors to ensure timely completion and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and authorize balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage multiple accounts and authorize supplier BACS payments and payroll.

Requirements:

  • Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / AAT) or working towards formal qualification in finance.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a law firm or regulated industry, with knowledge of SRA regulations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
