Job Purpose:

To be an active member of the production team at British Sugar, ensuring compliance with all site procedures and maintaining the safe operation of site packing lines and warehouse to effectively and efficiently manufacture, store, and dispatch sugar products that meet all quality standards and customer expectations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the operation of a busy warehouse forklift truck, conducting start-up checks, as well as end-of-shift checks, loading and unloading tautliner lorries, trailer inspections, and filling in paperwork.
  • Accurately record all dispatches and other operational data as required.
  • To operate the warehouse management system and ensure goods in and out are processed correctly.
  • To comply with site and business operational, health, safety, and environmental procedures, work instructions, and safe systems of work.
  • To carry out basic fault finding and problem-solving, working with shift engineers to resolve.
  • Ensure the production and dispatch plans are met to service customer requirements.
  • Evaluate and escalate issues in a timely manner to Supervisor/Line Manager.
  • Demonstrate to auditors (internal and external) as well as customers the food-safe manufacture of finished products.
  • Proactive approach in identification, communication, and achievement of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure no food safety risk.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:

  • Experience working within a FMCG environment, preferably in the food industry.
  • Experience of operating food packaging machinery - bag in box / form & fill / bag & stitch.
  • Awareness of HACCP and GMP practices.
  • Good communication skills, including the accurate and legible recording of information.

  • Current counterbalance FLT license
