Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a highly skilled and experienced nurse to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Apheresis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care to patients undergoing lipoprotein apheresis treatment, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients undergoing lipoprotein apheresis treatment.
  • Develop and maintain the ethos of the apheresis unit, ensuring a standard approach to excellent nursing care.
  • Ensure accuracy of documentation and maintain an efficient and accurate record system.
  • Act as an expert resource for patients, relatives, and colleagues relating to the care of patients with lipid disorders.
  • Supply and administer medicines according to Patient Group Directions/protocols and/or prescribe drugs as a non-medical independent prescriber.
  • Work effectively within the Trust's adult multidisciplinary cardiology team to ensure an individualized, evidence-based optimum service for each patient and their family.
Requirements
  • Experience in dialysis/apheresis treatment and computer literacy.
  • Cannulation skills and experience in lipid management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
