Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join our team at Disability North. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), demand avoidance, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in their daily life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and support to the individual, including assistance with daily living tasks, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the individual, built on trust, respect, and open communication.
  • Support the individual in their daily routine, including transportation to appointments and activities.
  • Assist the individual in managing their time effectively, prioritizing tasks, and setting goals.
  • Collaborate with the individual's support network, including family members, healthcare professionals, and other support workers.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with ASD, demand avoidance, and ADHD.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with individuals with complex needs.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
