Job Summary:

Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting on behalf of their prestigious clients for Mechanical Maintenance Technicians for ongoing positions at their refinery in Swansea. The Mond Nickel Refinery, owned and operated by Vale Europe, is one of the world's leading Nickel refineries, celebrating 120 years of production.

About the Role:

The Mechanical Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and possess good mechanical problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate will support the Production units by utilizing specialist knowledge and skills to undertake scheduled maintenance and respond to breakdowns during normal working hours and out of hours as part of an on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Production units by utilizing specialist knowledge and skills to undertake scheduled maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
  • Work under pressure and possess good mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor in ensuring the smooth operation of the refinery.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to respond to breakdowns and maintenance requirements.

Requirements:

  • A recognized Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A suitable period of work experience gained in heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of rotational equipment, belts, conveyors, pumps, drives, and motors.
  • Ability to machine basic engineering parts using lathes, milling machines, and centre bores.
  • A CCNSG Site Safety Passport and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Ability to don and wear Breathing Apparatus as required.

What We Offer:

Starting salary of £35,374 per annum rising to £37,454 per annum, with opportunities for overtime and call-ins. In addition, a 10% annual bonus is offered.
