Job Summary:

Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Culinary Assistant to join our catering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals to school children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food and beverages according to our service specification.
  • Operate catering equipment and machinery as required after receiving proper instruction.
  • Undertake clearing and cleaning duties within the kitchen and dining areas as needed.
  • Assist the Unit Manager in allocating tasks and supervising the kitchen team.
  • Deputize for the Unit Manager in their absence.
  • Communicate with customers in a friendly and caring manner.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others by following our safety policy.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate level of numeracy, literacy, and communication skills to perform the duties required.
  • Catering experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ equivalent is an advantage.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day, term-time only, with 30 hours per week.
