Job Summary:
Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Culinary Assistant to join our catering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals to school children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food and beverages according to our service specification.
- Operate catering equipment and machinery as required after receiving proper instruction.
- Undertake clearing and cleaning duties within the kitchen and dining areas as needed.
- Assist the Unit Manager in allocating tasks and supervising the kitchen team.
- Deputize for the Unit Manager in their absence.
- Communicate with customers in a friendly and caring manner.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others by following our safety policy.
Requirements:
- Appropriate level of numeracy, literacy, and communication skills to perform the duties required.
- Catering experience is preferred, but not essential.
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ equivalent is an advantage.

Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, including a competitive salary, paid on a pro-rata basis for part-time and term-time only positions.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day, term-time only, with 30 hours per week.
