Data Governance Lead

KPMG is seeking a Data Governance Lead to champion data as a strategic asset within our UK Audit business.
This role is crucial in supporting our Enterprise data strategy and ensuring we have robust processes, technology, and people in place to manage our critical data assets throughout their lifecycle.
As a leading professional services firm, KPMG recognizes the immense value of data. However, the success of these initiatives hinges on the quality and trustworthiness of the data we utilize.
The Data Governance Lead will play a pivotal role in establishing a culture of data stewardship across the Audit business, ensuring that the data we rely on is governed, reliable, and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities:- Define and implement a robust data strategy across a complex data landscape within the Audit sector.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive Data Governance framework to ensure high-quality data assets are created and maintained.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Audit business to define accountabilities and responsibilities for data, ensuring clear ownership and stewardship of key information assets.
- Facilitate strategic forums to provide oversight and governance for data and information within the Audit division.
- Conduct data maturity assessments to measure performance and guide the development of action plans to enhance data management practices.
- Establish policies and processes to manage data throughout its lifecycle, from creation to archival.
- Monitor data quality, generate reports, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Promote best practices in data governance within the Audit team.
- Cultivate a culture of data stewardship across the Audit business, educating colleagues on the importance of maintaining data quality and protection.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data governance practices, business, and technology considerations related to managing information assets.
- Deep functional expertise in data quality management (profiling, cleansing, enrichment).
- Experience with data quality management processes and methodologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of data-related government regulations and emerging trends within the industry.
- Proven experience implementing data management and governance systems to support effective long-term data management (e.g., Informatica, Purview, Collibra).
- Strong relationship-building skills; trusted point of contact for colleagues across various functions and capabilities.
- Ability to see the bigger picture, understand business drivers, and adapt your approach accordingly.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Leadership and influencing abilities to embed a data-driven culture and drive data governance initiatives.
