About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Formulation Technologist to join our Prototyping Team at Liz Earle Beauty Co. as a key member of our Formulation/Product Development Team in the R&D and Supply Chain function.

You will work closely with other Formulation Technologists, Technicians, and Raw Material Specialists from your own team, as well as Formulators, Testing, Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Packaging, and Project Managers from other teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate skincare prototypes that meet our high standards of quality and performance.
  • Deliver projects to agreed cost, quality, safety, and timing standards.
  • Drive a culture of scientific excellence based on structured experimental plans and critical evaluation of technical data.
  • Innovate technical solutions for complex problems, interpret scientific information into valid conclusions, and articulate clear business recommendations.
  • Accountable for owning and managing project formulation timings and technical risks that impact delivery.
  • Build an excellent collaborative network with Research and Product delivery colleagues and be a key point of contact for manufacturing partners and raw material suppliers.
  • Design and prepare prototyping consumer studies.
  • Be an integral part of delivering wider Prototyping Team and Formulation Team initiatives.
Requirements
  • A background in Cosmetic Formulation with at least 2 years' experience of skincare formulation or similar cosmetics formulation experience.
  • Ability to manage own time effectively.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical accuracy.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative working style.
  • Sound scientific thinking and methodology.
  • Effective communication skills to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
  • A degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific degree.
  • Completion of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Diploma in Cosmetic Science.
  • Experience of patent searching.
  • Awareness of Cosmetics Regulatory landscape.
  • Experience of Suncare/SPF formulation.
