Cost Estimator

RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services, a prominent entity within the Raven Delta (RD) Group, is on the lookout for a knowledgeable and dedicated Cost Estimator to enhance our growing team.

In this vital role, you will be instrumental in our mission to deliver superior solutions within a critical operational environment.

We specialize in designing and specifying mechanical and electrical services across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, governmental, and healthcare, and we have built a strong reputation for our delivery, quality, and reliability.

This is a full-time permanent role with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Supervise budgets throughout project execution to ensure adherence to projected costs. Implement cost-reduction strategies wherever feasible.
  • Contract Negotiation & Management: Engage in negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Ensure that contract terms are advantageous and align with project specifications while managing contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify financial risks linked to the project. Formulate strategies to mitigate risks and minimize potential budget overruns. Regularly evaluate project progress and modify plans as necessary.
  • Reporting: Generate reports with comprehensive analyses of costs and benefits of various options, recommending the most effective course of action.
  • Procurement: Maintain precise records of financial transactions.

Client Interaction and Dispute Resolution:

Engage with clients to comprehend their requirements and address any concerns. Provide guidance on legal matters related to contracts and disputes, facilitating communication between project teams and clients.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare regular reports detailing project costs, progress, and financial status. Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and other expenses.

Personal Qualities:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar capacity, ideally within the Mechanical & Electrical (M & E) sector, though not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent networking abilities.
  • Robust analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., cost estimation tools, project management software).
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and regulations.
  • Understanding of JCT and NEC3 contracts and the capability to prepare contracts for subcontractors.

Experience:

  • Proven history as a Cost Estimator or in cost management within construction or building services.
