Lead Broadcast Systems Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will report directly to the Principal Technical Architect and collaborate closely with the Engineering team, engaging with key stakeholders in Sales, Business, and Projects, while also interfacing directly with Suppliers and Clients. Operating in a dynamic environment, particularly around live broadcast services, precision and meticulousness are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role encompasses:
- Enhancing and broadening current solutions to meet new business demands.
- Collaborating with the business to gather requirements and provide preliminary costs and designs, facilitating the advancement of commercial opportunities.
- Iteratively developing designs and working in partnership to implement new services, aiding the growth of our linear broadcast streams.
- This may involve launching a new customer or channel on an existing platform, implementing a technology change or supplier system within a platform, or replacing a legacy multi-customer platform.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Criteria:
- Robust experience in broadcast engineering or technical operations within a commercial setting.
- Proven track record in leading the requirements gathering, design, and execution of technical systems and services.
- Experience in modifying or delivering solutions across multiple suppliers.
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud, Edge Playout, and IP-based linear distribution.
- Knowledge of linear playout, encoding, and distribution, preferably with tier 1 and live channels.
- Competence in gathering customer requirements and articulating complex technical systems.
- Ability to organize and plan changes and broader projects with both internal and external teams.
- Experience in guiding the delivery of projects into Business As Usual (BAU) operations and support.
- Understanding of IP networking and InfoSec fundamentals relevant to broadcast environments.
- Capability to document and illustrate technical solutions, diagrams, and test scripts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with Codecs, DAI, SCTE104/35, and ad-insertion technologies.
- Knowledge of Subtitle and Audio Languaging processes.
- Understanding of broadcast file formats and file delivery systems.
