About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Chief Finance Officer to join our team at University Hospital Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the Finance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of our finances and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will have significant experience working in a large, complex organisation and will be a qualified accountant with expertise in financial management and commercial strategy. You will be responsible for providing leadership and support to the Chief Finance Officer and the wider Finance team, ensuring that resources are effectively deployed to provide the best possible care and value for money for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a fully comprehensive financial management service to the organisation, developing and implementing the Trust's overall financial and commercial strategies.
  • Support the Chief Finance Officer in developing and delivering the finance strategy, which supports delivery of the overall Trust strategy.
  • Lead the finance function, focusing on leadership and culture, talent and skills development, and recruitment and retention.
  • Report the financial position to Committees of the Trust Board, including being a standing member of the Finance and Performance Committee.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a strong leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate well with your peers and team members. You will also need to be financially and politically aware, bringing a high level of NHS knowledge on the delivery of good financial control and financial governance.
