Position Overview
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Stock Controller to become a vital part of our Asset & Technology Solutions (ATS) team.
In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of stock levels and all related transactions in comparison to our records. Your role will involve performing essential activities to maintain precise stock holdings, including procurement, resolving discrepancies, and adhering to compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Stock Controller, your duties will include:
- Conducting regular Physical Inventory (PI) counts in various locations, followed by investigating stock variances to resolution (30% of daily responsibilities).
- Taking ownership of internal and external customer communications to address requests and inquiries regarding stock.
- Processing On/Off Hire transactions efficiently.
- Coordinating and managing stock accurately by adhering to all relevant procedures.
- Resolving stock-related issues, including procurement and transactional movements.
- Maintaining and updating computerized stock control systems.
- Supporting activities that involve the proper use and auditing of IT systems, coordination of Goods Received Notes (GRNs), PAT testing, and calibration.
- Assisting in the creation of purchase orders for new stock in accordance with company policies.
- Ensuring timely receipt of all orders within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and following up with suppliers when deadlines are not met.
- Providing comprehensive support to the Systems & Compliance Manager as needed.
- Generating ad hoc management information reports as required.
- Ensuring compliance with Company Safety Rules, Health & Safety Legislation, and Environmental Standards.
Candidate Profile
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Knowledge and experience in inventory management and stock control, with familiarity in lean techniques being advantageous.
- Proficiency in the main MS 365 applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as stock management systems.
- Experience in plant and tool hire is beneficial.
- A solid understanding of warehouse operations.
- Experience working in both warehouse and office environments.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
