We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEND Engagement Facilitator to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Inclusion and SEND Operations team, you will play a vital role in supporting sustainable inclusion for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities- Provide targeted intervention and support to families and professionals at points of change, challenge, and transition to promote longer-term resilience and successful educational placements.
- Utilize collaborative and person-centered approaches to ensure the voices of children and young people with SEND are captured, valued, and central to the planning process.
- Identify and facilitate effective ways of gathering, recording, and sharing information about children, their families, settings, or situations to inform planning and decision-making.
- Support partnerships between educational settings, families, and stakeholders to promote shared understanding of aspirations, needs, outcomes, and required provision for children with SEND.
- Work directly with children and young people with SEND and their families to develop their understanding and participation in assessment, planning, and decision-making processes.
- Act as a model of good practice and provide guidance to colleagues on One Planning approaches, facilitating effective collaboration and co-production of plans.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate partnership and person-centered practice, developing opportunities for staff in educational settings to embed this approach in their engagement with families.
- Build and maintain effective links across Education, including SENDIASS and the SEND Innovation and Strategy team, to identify, implement, and evaluate good One Planning practice.
- RQF Level 2 of the SEN awards or equivalent by experience.
- Continuing professional development with knowledge in relevant professional areas.
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its impact on assessment, planning, provision, and review for children with SEND.
- Significant experience of working with children with SEND in a school and/or home setting.
- Experience of working effectively in partnership with families and other professionals in a multi-agency environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate and mediate in challenging situations.
- Ability to develop skills, knowledge, and experience within the role, including a willingness to chair/facilitate meetings and plan/deliver training to small groups of adults.
