Job Summary:
Pertemps Northampton is seeking a highly skilled Crown Court Advocate to join their team in Northampton. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and representation to clients in Crown Court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Representation: Interview and advise clients on their legal matters, ensuring they receive the best possible outcome.
- Casework Management: Undertake casework, prepare files for trial, and review cases regularly to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with Counsel, instruct experts, and attend court, clients' homes, and prison as necessary.
- Case Management: Ensure files are promptly billed and sent to clients, and claim interim payments from the Legal Aid Agency when applicable.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with changes in law and practice, attending trials, and taking notes to ensure accurate record-keeping.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with the LGFS system under Legal Aid, computer literacy, and ability to navigate a case management system.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage casework effectively; good communication skills, and ability to deal confidently with clients, Counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Additional Requirements: Legible handwriting, ability to carry out clerical duties quickly and accurately, and possession of a car.
