Engineering Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our client, a leading global packaging manufacturer based in County Meath. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all engineering activities within the plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the engineering function, overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with health and safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the production supply chain.
  • Manage and drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Lead the development of engineering strategies in collaboration with the site leadership team to minimize downtime and enhance site performance.
  • Take responsibility for achieving engineering KPIs, setting clear objectives and ensuring timely progress.
  • Manage capital projects and ensure compliance with global engineering standards and statutory requirements.
  • Promote new technologies and innovative practices to improve site operations.
  • Ensure the development and training of the engineering team, identifying skill gaps and opportunities for growth.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to meet site objectives.
  • Ensure effective budget management, forecasting, and adherence to financial protocols.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an FMCG environment (preferably Food, Packaging, or Pharma).
  • Proven track record in engineering project management, with strong skills in planning, scheduling, and team leadership.
  • Experience in lean principles, problem-solving techniques, and breakdown analysis.
  • Financial and commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience in Health & Safety standards, including PUWER regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
