Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Cardiologist to join our team at the Transformation Unit. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for providing a consultant-led cardiology service in the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU).

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide a consultant-led cardiology service in the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU), ensuring the highest quality patient care.
  • Develop pathways for ambulatory care, admission avoidance, and streaming to appropriate services, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
  • Support the general cardiology service and be responsible for the care of patients within cardiology services across the Transformation Unit.
  • Supervise, teach, and train junior medical staff and medical students, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
Key Requirements
  • Fully trained in Cardiology with a subspecialty interest, and a track record of setting up similar services within cardiology.
  • Advanced knowledge, skills, and experience in devices or cardio-oncology, with a strong understanding of the wider health agenda and modern NHS.
  • Effective communication skills in written and spoken English, with a high level of emotional intelligence and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Experience of quality improvement work and audit, with a commitment to clinical audit and participation in a quality improvement programme.
  • Postgraduate qualification in teaching and training, with experience of training/teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
