The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic testing solutions, is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the preparation of samples and production of results within the confirmation section of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used in the analytical processes.
  • Prepare reagents, calibration standards, and control materials in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage stock levels of reagents, chemicals, and consumables to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, record-keeping, and filing, to support laboratory operations.
  • Aliquot samples into analyzer racks and maintain a steady throughput to the screening laboratory.
  • Enter donor details accurately and efficiently.
  • Review and verify donor details for accuracy.
  • Meet daily work program deadlines and quality standards.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Science degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous laboratory experience or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Results-driven and detail-oriented.
  • Data entry experience.
