Candidate Profile
We are seeking a reliable and approachable male care assistant to work on a self-employed basis. The ideal candidate should possess physical strength and fitness to assist the service user effectively. A valid UK driving license is essential, as a vehicle will be provided for outings. Experience in supporting individuals with significant learning disabilities is beneficial, and familiarity with personal care tasks is preferred. An enhanced DBS check is mandatory.
Working Hours
Flexible scheduling available, Monday to Friday, with up to 7 hours of work per day at a rate of £17.50 per hour.
About the Service User
The service user is a 44-year-old male living with cerebral palsy. He is non-verbal but communicates through sounds and gestures. While he can walk, he requires mobility assistance, including hand-holding and occasional use of a wheelchair. Support with eating, drinking, and toileting is necessary, as he needs constant supervision and cannot be left alone. He enjoys outings to various locations for social interaction, such as parks and town centers, and it is crucial to facilitate short walks to promote mobility. Additionally, he enjoys swimming and requires a support worker with strong swimming skills for safety during pool activities.
Role Responsibilities
- Accompany the service user on local trips, ensuring his safety at all times.
- Assist with personal care, as well as eating and drinking needs throughout the day.
- Communicate any observed changes in behavior or physical condition to the service user's family upon return.
- Utilize the service user's vehicle responsibly, reporting any maintenance or damage issues as necessary.
