Job Title: Head of Test

At Barclays, we're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Test to join our team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving software that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and technical skills. You will be responsible for leading our testing function, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your expertise will be essential in driving our engineering methodologies and ensuring that our software is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies.
  • Lead our testing function, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to our technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience in leading testing functions for medium to large multi-year transformation programs in the Banking/Finance domain.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and dealing with accountable executives at Director/Managing Director level.
  • Preferred qualifications: degree in a numerate subject (e.g., maths, computer science, etc.).
  • Prior working experience in Treasury/Finance domains.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
