Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and professional individual with strong communication abilities to join our esteemed Recoveries Team as a Litigation Handler.

You will report to the Recoveries Lead and will primarily be responsible for the proactive management of a portfolio of cases that are suitable for recovery through litigation until settlement. You will serve as the essential liaison between Panel Lawyers and the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a Triage of incoming litigation cases, ensuring that only value-added cases are referred to Lawyers.
  • Possess essential skills in liability prospect risk assessment.
  • Proactively oversee a portfolio of litigated cases.
  • Adopt a forward-thinking approach to advance individual claims strategies and the organization’s objectives.
  • Act as the key connection between Panel Lawyers and the organization.
  • Minimize indemnity expenditure through sound commercial decision-making.
  • Maximize recovery potential and success by employing a strategic approach to the portfolio.
  • Apply accurate reserves in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Utilize strategic insights against commercial considerations to determine whether to instruct Lawyers, manage in-house, or pursue settlement.
  • Oversee a portfolio of litigated cases using virtual lawyer systems and adhere to procedural milestones as agreed upon by the business strategy.
  • Conduct prompt and thorough investigations regarding indemnity, liability, recoverability, and fraud for all matters.
  • Effectively utilize schedules to reduce hire duration and indemnity costs.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as dictated by business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Strong, persuasive communicator with the ability to manage portfolios effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Ability to independently explore all options to achieve optimal outcomes for the organization.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
