Position Overview:
Are you a committed and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) or a recent graduate eager to positively impact the lives of children facing communication challenges? We invite you to explore this opportunity.

Role:
Speech and Language Therapist:
(Ideal candidates include newly qualified/band 5 SLTs with experience in supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism).

Compensation:
FTE £30,500-£33,500
(Equivalent to 52 weeks of £37,000-£41,476)
Hours: 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, during term time only.

Full-time.

Fleet/Farnborough, Hampshire

Key Responsibilities:
The role entails working within educational settings and residences of children with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism.

Your mission will be to assist our clients in enhancing their communication abilities through various strategies aimed at achieving functional communication.

This position offers the chance to broaden your understanding of diverse therapeutic techniques, as you will receive training from the lead therapist in both conventional and innovative methodologies.


We are seeking:
- An individual eager to develop or enhance their clinical skills with this demographic.
- Someone enthusiastic about engaging with children and their families on a personal level.
- A professional motivated by the advancement of children's communication abilities.
- A team player capable of collaborating within an interdisciplinary framework.
- A candidate who can work closely with a lead Speech and Language Therapist, providing targeted feedback to parents and educators.
- An independent assessor capable of creating tailored therapy plans.
- A data-driven individual who can monitor children's progress and adjust therapy as needed.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- An HCPC accredited Degree/Masters (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with HCPC and RCSLT.

Experience working with clients diagnosed with Autism, Down Syndrome, or those with complex needs and challenging behaviors is preferred.


- The ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and time management skills.

What We Offer:

This position is term-time only, and we anticipate employees will take time off during this period similar to a teaching schedule.

A mentoring period will be provided until both the Lead Therapist and you agree you are ready to manage your own caseload.

Your HCPC and RCSLT fees will be covered by Steps to Talking Ltd.

Job Responsibilities:

To manage clients using evidence-based and patient-centered approaches to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions that enable clients to overcome their communication challenges.


  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of individualized treatment plans for speech and language therapy services, ensuring effective delivery of treatments, activities, and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of each client's progress, including annual reports and participation in annual reviews.
  • Foster and develop strong working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, ensuring clinical practices align with HCPC guidelines and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the growth of the organization by actively promoting Steps to Talking Ltd services.
  • Ensure effective communication with clients, families, and caregivers throughout employment.

Person Specification:
Essential:
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle, as travel between multiple locations is required.

Preferred:
- At least one year of experience working with children with Autism, either through professional or personal experience.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- A relevant degree and HCPC registration; postgraduate qualification awarded by the RCSLT.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check:
This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, necessitating a Disclosure submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) to check for any prior criminal convictions.

UK Registration:
Applicants must possess current UK professional registration and have the right to work in the UK.
