Pharmacy Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to contribute to the provision of a comprehensive pharmacy service at The Wellington Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in the UK. As a key member of the Pharmacy Team, you will assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care and support the day-to-day running of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately dispense and issue prescription medicines, including controlled drugs, to inpatients, outpatients, and patients offsite.
  • Manage and maintain IV fluids, medical gases, and stock shortages, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient management.
  • Contribute to the accuracy checking of prescriptions according to the ACPT policy.
  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues and patients, providing excellent customer service and support.
Requirements:
  • Registration with GpHC.
  • NVQ3 in Pharmacy or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or an equivalent pharmacy technician qualification.
  • General knowledge of drug therapy.
  • Experience of working within a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of Meditech (desirable).
  • Experience of Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets (desirable).
