Employer Engagement Officer

Mencap is seeking a skilled and motivated Employer Engagement Officer to join our team in Worcester. As an Employer Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining relationships with local employers to secure work placements and jobs for our young learners with Learning disabilities and/or Autism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with employers from various industries and sectors to secure work placements and negotiate paid employment for our supported interns.
  • Oversee the work of Skills Coaches to ensure that placements progress and learners become independent, eventually moving into paid work.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for our supported interns to gain work experience and skills in the workplace.
  • Manage job coaches and ensure that they are providing effective support to our learners.
  • Develop and nurture stakeholder and partnership relationships to generate a consistent flow of employment opportunities for our Supported Internships.
Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with learners, employers, teaching professionals, and parents/carers.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and maintain accurate and up-to-date records using IT-based systems.
  • Experience in employer engagement and marketing is desirable, but not essential.
