About the Role
Situated in London, the GEMS UK team is dedicated to delivering trading services to both internal and external clients across the UK. Our offerings encompass optimization, hedging, market operations, and analytical services, with the 24/7 shift trading team playing a crucial role in these operations.
The shift trading team is on the lookout for driven professionals with demonstrated expertise and understanding of the trading and operational environment within GB Energy markets or similar energy markets. Relevant experience may include:
- Short-term power and/or gas operations;
- Short-term power and/or gas optimization;
- Market and/or system analysis;
- Regulatory analysis and development;
- Management of power/gas systems; or
- Operations within power station control rooms.
- Proven numerical proficiency;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English;
- Ability to take initiative and resolve issues independently;
- Decisiveness when faced with incomplete information;
- Coding skills will be viewed favorably.
- Optimizing assets and positions in short-term markets, managing a diverse portfolio that includes Pumped Storage, CCGT, Solar, Wind, Battery Storage, and Gas Storage;
- Identifying and implementing strategies that enhance value in the short term;
- Regularly engaging with clients, control rooms, and other key stakeholders;
- Demonstrating flexibility as part of a 24/7 shift team;
- Executing operational tasks and procedures with precision;
- Continuously improving processes and systems;
- Adhering to regulatory requirements, particularly REMIT, TCLC, and IOLC.
