Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic/Fitter to join our team in Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of our fleet of HGVs, commercial vehicles, plant, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, repair, and test our vehicles, plant, and equipment, including fault diagnosis.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections on all HGV vehicles to meet industry standards.
  • Diagnose faults on complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Prepare and present vehicles for regular inspections and maintenance.
  • Attend to broken-down or accident-damaged vehicles to perform necessary repairs.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and health and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent qualification.
  • Ideal possession of an HGV license category C minimum.
  • Previous experience in a relevant Fitter/Technician role.
  • Knowledge of workshop health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Good standard of verbal and written communication, with the ability to use computer systems for compliance record keeping.
