Key Responsibilities of the Retail Merchandising Specialist -

  • Play a crucial role in shaping departmental strategies by planning, managing, and achieving targeted sales, stock turnover, markdowns, and profitability.
  • Work in tandem with the Buyer to develop commercially viable product ranges.
  • Oversee in-season Open-to-Buy processes down to category level utilizing WSSI and Compass tools.
  • Effectively manage Terminal Stocks through strategic range planning and markdown oversight to adhere to budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain consistent oversight of the supply chain, monitoring commitments and intake, while collaborating with suppliers to reduce lead times, enhance flexibility, and improve product availability.
  • Provide training, motivation, and development opportunities for the Junior / Assistant Merchandiser and Merchandise Administrator.

Qualifications for the Retail Merchandising Specialist -

  • Experience as a Merchandiser or Junior Merchandiser.
  • Background in fashion is preferred, though candidates from other retail sectors are welcome.
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting methodologies.
  • Experience in driving departmental or organizational strategies and leading teams.
  • Management experience or experience leading an Assistant Merchandiser or higher-level candidate.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
