We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Engineering Technician to join our team at the Canal & River Trust. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in maintaining and restoring our waterways, ensuring they remain safe and accessible for everyone.
About the RoleAs an Apprentice Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for undertaking scheduled asset inspections, developing works information packages, and providing technical support to the wider engineering team. You will also have the opportunity to work on-site, building your portfolio and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake scheduled asset inspections to identify defects and develop works information packages to address them.
- Provide technical support to the engineering team, including developing simple solutions to identified defects.
- Work on-site, building your portfolio and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
- Support the definition of maintenance, repair, and renewal works for delivery by Trust teams and contractors.
- Comply with legal duties associated with Heritage & Environment and Canal & River Trust's Health & Safety policy.
Our apprentices complete a Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship, which includes both on-the-job and off-the-job training. You will work with supportive colleagues to get the best out of your apprenticeship experience and have the opportunity to work on projects across our network.

Requirements- A keen interest in fixing rather than throwing away and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- A full UK driving licence or willingness to attain one within 12 months of beginning your apprenticeship.
- Grade A-C or grade 9-4 in Maths, English, and Science GCSE (or equivalent) already achieved or on target to achieve.
