Job Title: Casual BookBus Driver Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a Casual BookBus Driver Assistant to join our team at Leicester City Council. As a key member of our Children's Bookbus team, you will play a vital role in providing reading resources to children and their families across the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the BookBus to various locations, including street stops and events, to deliver library services to children 0-11 years old.
  • Support the library assistant in ushering members of the public safely on and off the BookBus.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and books from the vehicle.
  • Ensure the BookBus is safe and ready for use at the start of each shift.
Requirements
  • A clean C1 licence category and ability to complete 35 hours of periodic training to acquire a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card.
  • Confident communication skills to interact with members of the public of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Punctual and reliable, with a commitment to providing good customer service in a safe and friendly environment.
