Chemistry Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach chemistry courses at Virginia Peninsula Community College.

• Design and deliver instruction for day and evening classes in chemistry.
• Responsible for student assessment and grading.
• Maintain adequate on-campus presence.
• Provide timely communication with students, staff, and administrators.

• Master's Degree in Chemistry or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in Chemistry.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence and experience teaching general chemistry, college chemistry, and/or organic chemistry.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using instructional technologies.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to teach on the Hampton and/or HT campus.

• Successful community college or undergraduate teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory.
• Additional graduate hours in chemistry.
• Experience in chemistry curriculum development and pedagogies that support best learning practices.
• Experience in development and/or teaching distance learning chemistry courses.
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating the success of students from diverse backgrounds.

Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.
