We are seeking a qualified and passionate Educational Psychologist (EP) to join our team.
In this capacity, you will conduct psychological evaluations and provide expert advice to the Local Authority regarding Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments.
Your role will involve supporting the Local Authority (LA) in fulfilling its obligations towards students with special educational needs.It is crucial that you offer direct assistance to various schools and early years settings while collaborating with other organizations to foster positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
This includes delivering both statutory and traded services to educational institutions.Ensure that assessments and reports are completed within agreed timelines to guarantee that the comprehensive needs of each child are addressed in all relevant meetings and reviews.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:Essential Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in Educational Psychology at the Master’s level or currently in the final year of a Doctorate in Educational Psychology.
- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council.
- A strong Honors degree in psychology or an equivalent qualification recognized by the British Psychological Society.
- Additional qualifications relevant to the role of the EP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality and diverse assessments for individual children and young people facing learning barriers due to cognitive and learning difficulties, communication challenges, physical or sensory issues, and emotional or social problems (as per SEN Code of Practice).
- Provide a high-caliber educational psychology service to the LA by completing EP contributions to statutory assessments within designated timelines and participating in Annual Reviews for pupils with Statements of Special Educational Needs and Education Health Care Plans, both in and out of Borough.
- Facilitate Joint Problem-solving and Team Around the Child meetings, leading to effective interventions involving children, young people, parents, caregivers, educators, and other relevant professionals.
- Engage with and advocate for the common processes of the Locality Teams (e.g., Early Help Record and Plan, Lead Professional, Team Around the Child & Family).
- Collaborate with schools and educational settings at a systems level to identify barriers to successful learning and devise effective strategies to mitigate these challenges.
- Represent the Educational Psychology Service & Locality Integrated Team in meetings, panels, and case conferences as necessary.
- Organize, participate in, and deliver training for schools/settings, LA staff, professionals from other agencies, and parents/caregivers.
- Plan and implement interventions.
- Collect data and conduct research to provide insights on effectively meeting the needs of children and young people.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Service.
- Deliver a high-quality Educational Psychology Service to children and young people aged 0-25, focusing on enhancing educational outcomes and supporting social and emotional development.
- Actively engage in HR processes, including performance appraisals, attendance management, and professional development planning.
