Role Responsibilities

MorePeople is currently seeking an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join their growing planning and rural teams. This role will primarily be based in their office, where you will collaborate with experienced Surveyors, Planners, and Architectural staff.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting ecological surveys and preparing detailed reports to support planning applications.
  • Enhancing opportunities for biodiversity net gain across various projects.
  • Advising project teams on ecological legislation and best practices.
  • Developing mitigation and enhancement strategies for ecological impacts.
  • Managing subcontractors and representing clients as a professional witness when necessary.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A degree in Ecology or a related discipline.
  • Membership in CIEEM (MCIEEM).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in ecological practice.
  • Proficiency in conducting ecological surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  • Familiarity with the Natural England Biodiversity Metric 4.0.
  • A strong understanding of UK and EU wildlife legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Additionally, a valid driving license and access to a vehicle are required. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential, along with a commitment to health and safety practices.
