Job Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated Neonatal Hepatitis B Immunization Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the neonatal Hepatitis B vaccination program safely and effectively within the homes of eligible babies in a designated area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct home visits to assess and vaccinate eligible babies at approximately 4 weeks and 12 months old, ensuring adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide parents with comprehensive information about the Hepatitis B immunization process, including pre-requisites, contraindications, and potential side effects.
  • Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse by adhering to local Safeguarding Children's Board guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all vaccinations administered, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents, carers, families, and other stakeholders to provide a coordinated and comprehensive service for the community.
  • Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Stay current on national and local policies relating to neonatal Hepatitis B immunization programs, including PGDs and best practices.
  • Escalate any issues, risks, or clinical incidents to management promptly and effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a valid license to practice.
  • Experience in paediatric immunisation and medicines management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and adults.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B.
  • Car driver with access to a vehicle for travel between locations.
