Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Attendance, Safeguarding, and Family Liaison Officer to join our team at Dunbar Education. This is a key role within our organization, where you will work closely with pupils, families, and staff to promote excellent attendance, ensure the safeguarding of all pupils, and provide essential support to families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attendance Management:
    • Monitor and track pupil attendance, identifying patterns of concern and addressing issues promptly.
    • Prepare attendance reports and liaise with relevant authorities regarding attendance matters.
  • Safeguarding:
    • Act as one of the school's Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL), ensuring that all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed.
    • Respond to safeguarding concerns, making referrals to external agencies as necessary.
    • Maintain accurate records of safeguarding incidents and actions taken.
    • Provide training and support to staff on safeguarding issues.
  • Family Liaison:
    • Build strong relationships with families, offering support and guidance to help them engage effectively with the school.
    • Assist families in accessing external support services when necessary.
    • Organize and lead family workshops and events to promote engagement and well-being.
    • Act as a point of contact for parents/carers with concerns about their child's welfare or education.
Requirements
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting the well-being of children and families.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in safeguarding, education, or social care (e.g., DSL training) is desirable.
