A remarkable opportunity has emerged for a Senior Spine Care Specialist to become part of our esteemed multi-disciplinary team within the Orthopaedic Spinal Surgical service.
As a vital member of the Orthopaedic Spinal Team, you will receive support from a group of Consultant surgeons and fellow Advanced Specialist Practitioners.
Your role will involve participation in the award-winning Orthopaedic Spinal Rapid Access Service (OSRAS), assisting in the delivery of the spinal on-call service during standard working hours. Responsibilities will include triaging cases, attending handover meetings, and conducting comprehensive spinal assessments for surgical consideration under the guidance of consultant surgeons. This service caters to patients referred from various regions.
Key Responsibilities
You will join a dedicated team committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care within this specialized spinal surgical environment. Strong teamwork and exceptional communication skills are essential, as you will actively engage in complex multi-disciplinary case discussions alongside Consultant Spinal Surgeons, Consultant Radiologists, and other team members.
The team takes pride in their ongoing Research and Audit initiatives, and you will play a role in clinical governance by participating in data collection and supporting research and audit activities.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Professional clinical qualification.
- Current registration with a professional body.
- Advanced Clinical Practice qualification or equivalent.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in the specialist area.
Desirable Qualifications
- Non-medical prescribing qualification (where applicable).
- Teaching qualification or willingness to pursue.
- Leadership or management qualification or willingness to undertake.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential Knowledge
- Highly motivated practitioner with a minimum of five years of experience in spinal surgical and triage services.
- Proven leadership experience with a focus on achieving targets and service enhancement.
- Current understanding of professional and NHS issues and their implications for clinical practice.
- Enthusiasm for improving practice through education and training.
- Evidence of leading clinical audits and translating findings into service development.
Desirable Knowledge
- Experience in delivering pre-operative and post-operative care to a tertiary spinal surgical patient population.
- Experience in managing chronic health conditions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical pathophysiology.
