We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Peer Support Educator to become part of our dedicated team at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will leverage their personal experiences, insights, and knowledge to collaboratively teach and develop our diverse range of educational programs. This role is part-time, requiring a commitment of three days per week.

Main Responsibilities

The Peer Support Educator plays a crucial role in delivering our educational portfolio. Key responsibilities include:

  • Enhancing the quality and effectiveness of our educational offerings.
  • Assisting in the creation of new courses and educational resources.
  • Co-facilitating workshops and courses in collaboration with students and stakeholders.
  • Participating in the development, delivery, and evaluation of course materials.
  • Contributing to innovative initiatives and creative projects within the college.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with students and tutors, respecting their perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Collaborating with the college team to manage course logistics and student data.
  • Performing administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the college.
  • Promoting the principles of personal recovery and co-production in all activities.
  • Modeling the values of personal recovery in every aspect of the role.
  • Recognizing and valuing lived experience expertise in line with co-production principles.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Personal lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges.
  • Experience in educational or mental health settings.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others while translating learning into practice.
  • Strong time management skills to balance competing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Experience in delivering educational sessions to varied groups.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification.
  • Experience with inpatient mental health services.
