About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our dynamic team in Fleet office. As a key member of our Transport Planning team, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for a wide range of infrastructure projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport Assessments and Statements: Prepare comprehensive Transport Assessments and Statements to ensure compliance with UK Transport Planning standards and processes.
  • Travel Plans and Coordination: Develop and coordinate Travel Plans to minimize the impact of transportation on the environment and community.
  • Technical Data and Drawings: Prepare and present technical data and drawings to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Junction Capacity Assessments: Conduct junction capacity assessments using ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG to inform transportation planning decisions.
  • Client and Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with clients, contractors, and local/national authorities to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
  • Task Delivery and Quality Control: Ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery of assigned tasks and quality control of work produced by junior team members.
  • Team Collaboration and Support: Work collaboratively with the team, provide guidance and support to junior staff, and contribute to the development of their technical knowledge.
  • Highways and Transport Advice: Support Team Leaders in delivering comprehensive advice to clients on Highways and Transport matters, from preliminary advice to feasibility work.
  • Site Appraisals and Surveys: Conduct site appraisals and surveys to inform transportation planning decisions and provide input to written reports and presentational material.
  • Project File Management: Ensure all electronic and paper files on projects are up-to-date and accurately maintained.
  • Additional Tasks: Assist with other related tasks as required by your Team Leader.

Requirements
  • Degree in Applicable Subject: Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering
  • UK Transport Planning Experience: Minimum 3+ years' experience of UK Transport Planning standards and processes
  • Preferred Membership: Member of Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (MCIHT)
  • Microsoft Office Software: Advanced use of Microsoft Office software packages
  • Numeracy and Analytical Skills: Good levels of numeracy, including a good understanding of spreadsheets, and excellent analytical skills
  • AutoCAD and Transportation Software: Use of AutoCAD (desirable) and working experience/understanding of ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to clearly communicate findings from complex data, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Commercial Understanding and Interpersonal Skills: Good commercial understanding, interpersonal skills, and ability to work easily and accurately with numbers
