About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Plymouth. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, aged three to five, in the nursery and reception areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), adapting your methods to meet their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Encourage effective communication and engagement among students with ASD, utilizing evidence-based strategies.
  • Establish a welcoming and inclusive learning environment through the implementation of behavior management strategies.
  • Assist students with assignments, homework, and learning activities, collaborating closely with the teaching team to modify materials as needed.
Requirements
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS check (willing to obtain one).
  • Two professional references.
  • Pertinent training in special education needs or a related field is beneficial.
  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs is highly valued.
  • Tolerance, compassion, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN.
  • Flexibility to accommodate each student's unique needs and varied learning approaches.
