Consultant Nephrologist (8PAs)
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Nephrologist to join our team at the Royal London Hospital within Barts Health NHS Trust. Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive whole-pathway renal & transplant care, working across multiple sites to improve outcomes for patients in East London. They will also have the opportunity to develop their skills in peritoneal dialysis and lupus management.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in renal medicine, with experience in peritoneal dialysis and lupus management. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
- MB BS or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Certificate of completion of training (CCT) or Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR)
Desirable Criteria
- Training in peritoneal dialysis
- Able to undertake native and transplant renal biopsies independently without supervision
- Experience in managing patients with lupus
Training and Development
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge through ongoing training and development opportunities, including higher specialist training in renal medicine and experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates.
Management and Audit Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical audit and be able to demonstrate their understanding of the impact and challenges of this work. They will also have the ability to support team members in business planning and have knowledge of current and future NHS challenges and strategy.
Academic Achievements
The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical research and be able to demonstrate their ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems. They will also have experience of presenting research to learned societies and have a number of first-author publications in indexed journals.
