Caregiver Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to join our team at FirstLight Home Care of Southern Maine. As a caregiver, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients, providing them with the care and support they need to live independently and comfortably in their own homes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and conversation to our clients, engaging them in activities and stimulating their minds
  • Prepare and serve meals, ensuring our clients receive nutritious and delicious food
  • Assist with bathing and grooming, promoting our clients' personal hygiene and dignity
  • Perform light housekeeping and laundry tasks, maintaining a clean and comfortable living environment
  • Accompany clients on shopping trips, errands, and transportation, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting our clients' unique needs and preferences

Requirements

  • Previous caregiving experience is preferred, but not required
  • A passion for caregiving and a desire to help others is essential
  • A commitment to being present and providing quality care is crucial
  • Empathy, patience, kindness, and respect are essential qualities for this role
  • Ability to carry out direction, both verbal and written, is necessary
  • Ability to effectively manage the demands of the job, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently
