Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our client's team in Exeter. As a Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient loading, sorting, and unloading of scrap metal.
Key Responsibilities:- Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload vehicles, ensuring high standards of housekeeping.
- Stockpiling and Shipping: Stockpile various grades of scrap metal and assist with ship loading/unloading.
- Material Storage: Store materials in accordance with company policy.
- Daily Checks and Training: Complete daily checks and attend training courses to maintain a high level of proficiency.
- Team Coordination: Coordinate with team members to process loads correctly and ensure efficient operations.
- Quality Control: Inspect dispatched scrap materials to ensure they meet grade specifications.
- Transportation Scheduling: Schedule inward and outward transport to meet operational needs.
- Customer and Contractor Liaison: Liaise with customers, drivers, and contractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Housekeeping and Safety: Maintain a clean and tidy working area, adhering to company policies and standards.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, and perform additional duties as required.
- Experience: Experience with 360° Material Handler/Wheeled loading shovel is a plus.
- License: FLT licence is advantageous.
- Teamwork and Communication: Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills, ability to stay calm under pressure, and strong verbal communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-Motivation and Flexibility: Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
