We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Coastal Engineering Project Lead to join our team at Advance TRS. As a key member of our coastal engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and delivering a variety of coastal engineering and adaptation projects.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coastal engineering and a proven track record of leading projects from conception to completion. You will be responsible for processing and analyzing hydrodynamic and beach morphodynamic data, understanding nearshore coastal processes, and predicting future coastal changes through the use of numerical models such as XBeach, UNIBEST, ShorelineS, and SWAN.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data related to coastal processes and develop predictive models to support consultancy and research projects.
- Apply numerical models to support consultancy and research projects, including XBeach, UNIBEST, ShorelineS, and SWAN.
- Conduct site visits or surveys, including coastal WFD and erosion assessments, to gather data and inform project decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in a relevant field, such as coastal engineering, oceanography, or a related field.
- A PhD in a relevant field is an asset.
Essential Skills
- Strong analytical and programming skills for data processing, including MATLAB and Python.
- Experience in data processing and analysis, including hydrodynamic and beach morphodynamic data.
- Proficiency in using GIS software, including ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Knowledge of nearshore hydrodynamic and beach morphodynamic processes related to coastal flood risk and erosion.
Desirable Skills
- Advanced proficiency in programming for data processing, including MATLAB and Python.
- Experience applying numerical models such as XBeach, SWAN, Delft3D, or TELEMAC.
- Experience with the collection and management of hydrodynamic and beach morphodynamic data.
