Job Summary

This role is a critical component of the Genomic Medicine Service Alliance, ensuring a smooth handover of 'suspected condition' results from research studies to the NHS for confirmatory testing and subsequent care and support pathways.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Receive and confirm receipt of 'condition suspected' genomic research reports from the Genomics England Case Manager, covering all recruitment sites in the region.
  2. Inform the NEY GLH rare disease laboratory of positive screening results and support the relevant clinical team to acquire the necessary samples for genomic and other confirmatory testing.
  3. Share and track 'condition suspected' genomic research reports with the relevant NHS Specialist Care Centre and request an email receipt.
  4. Confirm to the Genomics England Case Manager that cases have been confirmed as received by NHS Specialist Care Centres and have transferred into NHS Standard of Care pathways.
About the Role

This is a newly established position, and the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the effective implementation of genomic medicine in the North East and Yorkshire region.

The Genomic Medicine Service Alliance is a partnership between three NHS trusts, including Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to provide equitable and consistent access to genomic services across the region.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in genomics, clinical genetics, or a related field, with experience in working with complex data and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage an independent caseload.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proactive and solution-focused approach, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
