Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Director to join our team at Virgin. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Counsel: Provide strategic communications counsel to our leadership team, including planning key events and campaigns.
- Global Communications Lead: Lead global communications efforts, mentoring teams and managing crisis communications for the group.
- Partnership Development: Forge and develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including brands and Virgin Companies.
- Integrated Communications: Collaborate with Brand and People teams on integrated communications and activation strategies.
- Media and PR Strategies: Develop and implement media and PR strategies to maximize our profile and ensure effective reputation management.
- Press Office Operations: Oversee press office operations, providing efficient, proactive and reactive services for print, digital, and broadcast media.
- Internal Communications: Oversee group internal communications initiatives to engage employees worldwide.
- Team Leadership: Lead the Communications & External Relations team, providing direction, managing budgets, and developing performance indicators.
Requirements
- Experience: Extensive experience in managing an in-house press office and working with UK and international media.
- Media Events: Proficiency in overseeing media events such as press conferences and interviews.
- Commercial Partnerships: Demonstrated ability to work with commercial partners, sponsors, and Virgin branded companies.
- Internal Communications: Experience in developing and maintaining internal communications channels, including digital solutions.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, including strategic planning, budget management, and team development.
- Relationship-Building: Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organisational levels.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, diplomatic approach, and ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and political astuteness.
