About the Role

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Housing Support Specialist to join our team in the Blaina and Brynmawr areas. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs to transition from long-term psychiatric care back to independent living within their local community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build trusting relationships with service users and provide front-line support to help them achieve their goals and live independently.
  • Administer medication (training will be provided) and ensure service users have choice and control in the delivery of their support.
  • Support service users with daily tasks, such as medical appointments, community activities, and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to provide a comprehensive support package for service users.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual care plans and treatment reviews.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
  • Training in medication administration will be provided.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with service users and understand the value of setting safe boundaries and expectations.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, including non-judgmental, resilient, and empathetic qualities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under own initiative.
  • Understanding of PIE, ACEs, and strength/restorative-based approaches.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs, disrupted attachments, interpersonal difficulties, and challenging behavior.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel as part of the role.
