Job Title: English Game Tester

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented English Game Tester to join our team at Universally Speaking. As a key member of our Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA) team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of our games and applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test games and applications to identify linguistic bugs and report them using our bug database.
  • Communicate effectively with our global team in clear English.
  • Ensure games and applications provide the best user experience by being linguistic bug-free.
  • Check in-game text for linguistic accuracy and adherence to cultural rules.
  • Learn and follow our LQA process and professional standards.
  • Use industry-standard bug databases to write detailed bug reports.
  • Ensure that bugs have been fixed and implemented correctly.
  • Become an LQA expert across a range of Indie to AAA projects.
  • Own, manage, create, and execute test cases throughout the project life cycle.
  • Actively participate in test requirement gathering with developers.
  • Look for ways to improve and create efficiencies in your work.
  • Cooperate with the QA team.
Measures of Performance:
  • Quality, velocity, and precision of bug reports.
  • On-time delivery.
  • Teamwork and communication.
  • Continuous improvement and knowledge of LQA workflow and techniques.

Requirements:
  • Expertise in German.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Passion for video games.
  • Team player with ability to work under pressure.
  • Proactive, tenacious, and enthusiastic.

  • Good computer skills, including word processing, database handling, and MS Office Suite.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in LQA, translation, or proofreading.
  • Experience with software tools used for LQA testing.
  • Working knowledge of CAT tools (MemoQ).
  • Knowledge of the video game industry and trends.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in linguistics.
