About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Underwriting Officer to join our team at Travelers. As a key member of our Business Insurance (BI) Retail team, you will be responsible for implementing and managing strategic underwriting decisions and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement long-term underwriting strategies to position BI Retail for success in the market.
  • Ensure underwriting controls, including audits and cures, are in place and promptly addressed.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure responsible product development aligns with profit, growth, and retention strategies.
  • Participate in strategic business planning activities to increase market presence, retain business, and achieve growth and profit goals.
  • Develop and leverage broker and client relationships through high-level visibility and communication.
  • Work with brokers to ensure they understand BI Retail goals and objectives.
  • Provide underwriting leadership at regional meetings and develop effective monitoring standards to assess underwriting results.
  • Analyze local market trends and provide competitor information to product and portfolio management teams.
  • Mentor and coach underwriting staff to ensure production, underwriting standards, and profitability objectives are met.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal resources to ensure effective operation of underwriting and marketing decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education level preferred.
  • Previous experience in senior underwriting leadership roles.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in organization, financial acumen, communication, collaboration, presentation skills, networking, risk selection, and critical and analytical thinking.
  • Leadership competencies in leading the business, leading others, and leading self.
  • ACII certification.
