Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Canterbury Day Nursery and Preschool. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our children and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external health and safety standards.
- Support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for our children, minimizing food waste and ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the kitchen, ensuring all requirements are met and communicated to the team.
- Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health, and safety, and safeguarding.
- Work with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy, and safe environment.
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting.
- Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) - must be passed on day 1 in post.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure.
