Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective SHEQ strategies to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and business requirements.
- Lead a team of two SHEQ professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management.
- Collaborate with the Net Zero (EV) team and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a proactive approach to managing SHEQ performance.
- Monitor and manage the performance of MES direct staff, agency staff, and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to required standards of health, safety, and environmental management.
- Provide SHEQ support in the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and joint venture partners, ensuring robust risk management and governance.
- Develop and implement changes to processes, following an understanding of a need to improve performance, and support the implementation of relevant procedures to deliver contract/business requirements.
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of safe Systems of Work, such as SHEQ Plans, Construction Phase Plans (CPP), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Monitor site compliance with statutory SHEQ responsibilities and the Business Management System, and monitor SHEQ performance, recording findings and advising management as appropriate.
- Assist in timely incident investigations and reporting, ensuring the identification of root causes and implementation of appropriate recommendations to mitigate reoccurrences.
- NEBOSH construction certificate or NEBOSH general certificate with construction experience.
- Full UK driving license.
- Appreciation/understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
- Relevant SHEQ experience in Utilities/Electrical or Construction industry.
- IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, and the internet.
- Diploma NVQ Level 3 or above (preferable).
- Electrical Safety background (preferable).
- An understanding of all relevant statutory, regulatory, and company policies and guidelines.
- Ability to react to constantly changing workloads.
- 25 days' annual leave plus 8 days' bank holiday.
