Safety Engineering Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Product Safety Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems Submarines. As a key member of our Integrated Development Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our submarine systems and capability development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with System Engineers to influence submarine systems and capability development, ensuring that safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of the design and development process.
- Develop and maintain safety requirements, hazard identification and analysis, and safety case delivery, ensuring that all safety management systems are up-to-date and compliant.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate safety risks, and to develop and implement safety procedures and protocols.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of the project lifecycle, from concept to delivery.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety reports, hazard data management, and application of the ALARP principle.
Requirements:
- Obtained or predicted 2:2 in a Bachelor's or Master's Engineering degree.
- Strong understanding of 'Safety and Systems Engineering' and 'Engineering Life Cycle Management' principles.
- Experience working in a team environment, with the ability to work independently and deliver tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Practical experience as a Product Safety Engineer in the maritime defence sector is desirable, although experience in other sectors will be considered.
